How to delete your Alexa history and records
By now, you may know that your Alexa smart speakers are listening to what you say and that Amazon has recorded everything your device listens to. According to Amazon, your voice recordings are stored “to improve the accuracy of your interactions with Alexa”. If you’ve concerned about your privacy, here’s how to delete your Alexa history and stop Alexa from saving your voice recordings in the future.
Does Alexa really listen to what you have to say?
All Amazon Echo devices will start recording your voice after saying “Alexa” (or something like that). Your voice recording will then be sent to Amazon, where it will be analyzed by speech recognition software. Then a command is sent to your device and tells Alexa how to respond in a millisecond.
A Letter To a U.S. senator, Amazon claims to store Alexa voice recordings “until the customer deletes them.” The company claims that when you delete a voice recording, the associated transcripts and audio recordings will also be deleted from its servers.
How To Delete Alexa Records By Voice
You can delete your last voice recordings with the voice commands “Alexa, delete what I said” or “Alexa, delete everything I said today”. If you want to delete all your previous posts, you can say, “Alexa, delete everything I said so far.”
How to delete your Alexa registration history in the app
To delete all your Alexa records, open the Alexa app and go to it Also review> Settings> Alexa Privacy> Voice History. Then tap the down arrow Displays Then the next arrow Filter by date. Next, select All history And tap Delete all my posts.

- Next, tap Settings.
- Then tap Alexa Privacy.
- Next, select Review voice history.
- Then tap the down arrow Displays.
- Next, tap the arrow next to it Filter by date. If you have multiple Alexa devices, tap Filter by device And select All devices If it is not already selected.
- Then select All history. You can also select another time limit depending on how many Alexa records you want to delete.
- Next, tap Delete all my posts.
- Finally, tap Clear.
However, deleting your voice recording history does not mean that Alexa will stop recording you in the future.
How to stop Alexa from saving your records
To prevent your Alexa devices from storing your voice recordings, open the Alexa app and go to it More> Settings> Alexa Privacy> Manage your Alexa data And tap Select how long the records should be saved. Then select Do not save records And tap Make sure.

- Next, tap Settings.

- Next, scroll down and select Manage your Alexa data.

- Next, select Do not save records And tap Make sure.

To clear your Alexa voice recordings in a web browser, go to amazon.com/alexa-privacy/apd/home And select Review voice history. Next tap the downward facing arrows Displays Then Filter by date. Finally, select All history And click Delete all my posts.
