How to delete your Alexa history and records

By now, you may know that your Alexa smart speakers are listening to what you say and that Amazon has recorded everything your device listens to. According to Amazon, your voice recordings are stored “to improve the accuracy of your interactions with Alexa”. If you’ve concerned about your privacy, here’s how to delete your Alexa history and stop Alexa from saving your voice recordings in the future.

Does Alexa really listen to what you have to say?

All Amazon Echo devices will start recording your voice after saying “Alexa” (or something like that). Your voice recording will then be sent to Amazon, where it will be analyzed by speech recognition software. Then a command is sent to your device and tells Alexa how to respond in a millisecond.

A Letter To a U.S. senator, Amazon claims to store Alexa voice recordings “until the customer deletes them.” The company claims that when you delete a voice recording, the associated transcripts and audio recordings will also be deleted from its servers.

How To Delete Alexa Records By Voice

You can delete your last voice recordings with the voice commands “Alexa, delete what I said” or “Alexa, delete everything I said today”. If you want to delete all your previous posts, you can say, “Alexa, delete everything I said so far.”
